A couple of pictures from the wedding

The wedding, as you can see, was on the beach.

Isn't she gorgeous?

Although I do not like the heat, sun, sand or sea, for the last week I have been in a place that has all four ingredients: the Dominican Republic. My brother in law got married on the beach to the lovely Debra, so most of Omar's family was there.
Yes, it was challenging for me with the heat and sea, but I had a lovely time!

Missing the Snow

Am I glad the snow is completely gone? Not really, because it may be a hassle but it is so pretty.

Some of my favorite portraits of 2009

You may recognize some of those faces, two to be specific. Every day I enjoy more and more taking portraits, there is something amazingly beautiful in each and everyone of ones.

Good old Peel Offs!

OK. So I am not a fan of Peel Offs. But I do love Francoise Read's or Magenta's peel offs. They are cute or sophisticated and look amazing in when they come in white and black. This one card I made as part of making a few samples cards for QVC, the kit consists of Francoise's peeloffs, ribbon and mulberry paper. I had a lovely time making the samples!

Again, you can see I took a crap photo of the card. to be honest I do not enjoy that much taking photos of something else than people. I love portraits, there is nothing like capturing peoples beauty with the camera. Taking photos of my projects... BORING! I need to change my attitude respect that, I am even thinking of getting a light tent which probably would help, but I rather spent my money in another lens.

So, I will just post a photo of my lovely husband that I took last Sunday in a BBQ we attended. It was hot!

I edited the photo using Lightroom, a fantastic program by Adobe that makes developing the photos so cool. You can save the presets that will then work in a similar manner to the Actions in Photoshop. I prefer Lightroom to Photoshop just because you can really edit a workload in very little time.

Hever Castle

Still hurting a bit about yesterday's defeat, but I am so glad it happened. I know it's weird, but after reading what Rafa said in his after the game, I even admire him more!!!!
And, I guess now I know how not to care too much about sports!

Anyway, no card or scrapbooking layout today to share, but this photo of Hever Castle in Kent that I took in May when we visited it with Omar's brother and fiance. By the way, it was just outside the castle that I took the engagement photos that were feautered in the Slice mini album (also shown on QVC). Hever Castle is where Anne Boleyn grew up and as beautiful as might have been then, it was made even lovelier in the early twentieth century by the Astor family who added incredibly amazing Italian Gardens. So if you ever are in the area, go there.

This Dog!

Makes me really want to have a dog, and the thing is I am not a dog person at all, rather than a cat one. But Charlie has got me under his paw everytime I go Up North. He is so friendly and full of energy, he likes to sit behind me in the sofa or play ball while watching tv. I was very tempted to steal him and bring is back home this time. Somehow I doubt that either Dawn or JJ would have allowed it.

New lens

Omar has been in a business trip to Taiwan and Hong Kong last week. I just suggested to him to check the prices of cameras and lenses and gave him some indication of the prices on eBay.
Luckily, he found a very good deal on my first -only- choice for the D80: 85mm 1.8, which is fantastic!!!!!!
Just minutes after Omar got home, he posed for the new lens. Doesn't he look gorgeous?

Taking photos with film

I am starting to change my mind about the digital slr. Some of you may know that I have been dreaming of owning a dslr for some time now -about two years. Omar has always insisted on traditional film cameras but he didn't changed my mind. Although he owns a Nikon FM2, I have never had a real go with it. Until two days ago.
A friend of ours gave Omar an old Yashica SLR, with a medium quality lens as a present. Of course Omar decided that the camera needed a good lens and so it was his first priority in Toronto to get a fitting lens for it -something I really hate about slr: lenses only fit certain cameras, so all the nikon lenses that we have do not fit the Yashica, erhh!
Anyway we got to a Camera Outlet place where you can buy second hand lenses that cost anything from $50CAN, which translates into around 25GBP, a bargain. And Omar found this total cool lens a Carl Zeiss 50mm 1.4, I mean that is a real piece of glass! So even I got excited and couldn't wait to try. And here is the first photo I took with it. My hadnsome husband in a ally downtown Toronto.
